HISTORY  *   HOME   *   HELPING  OTHERS

Founded in 1960, the Lake County Bar Foundation has been making a difference in our community for 55 years. Some examples of the efforts supported and funded by Your Foundation include:

Educating future lawyers through the Wayne Flanigan Scholarship at the University of Illinois School of Law;

Supporting our veterans through programs such as Great Lakes Adaptive Sports and the 19th Judicial Circuit Court Veterans History Project and Veterans Specialty Court;

Helping eligible lawyers with reasonable living expenses due to emergency, accident or illness;

Funding the 19th Judicial Circuit Drug Court, which helps non-violent offenders become productive members of society;

Inspiring future lawyers by supporting mock trial competitions for high school and college students;

Offering free legal assistance to grandparents and foster parents with guardianship proceedings.

The Lake County Bar Association was founded in 1912 with the mission to foster respect for the administration of law; to promote the science of jurisprudence; to encourage increased competency and knowledge of current laws, procedures and regulations through continuing legal education, to promote greater diversity among the bar, the judiciary and to enhance access to justice for the persons we serve and to uphold the honor and dignity of the legal profession.

OUR GOALS

• To increase and develop the membership, recognizing the importance of diversity;

• To provide members opportunities for education, networking and social events;

• To provide the public with legal resources and referrals;

• To ensure that the Lake County Bar Association has the infrastructure, financial resources, personnel, technology and facilities to accomplish its mission.
