William D. Block Memorial Law Library
The Lake County Law Library has had an electronic catalog since 1998. Since then, it has provided library staff and patrons a way to search the library collection by title, author, or subject when patrons express an interest in locating legal research materials. However, the catalog had previously only been available on the library’s public computers, which meant you still had to visit the law library in person to search the library’s catalog. The law library is pleased to announce now that the law library’s catalog is now available to search via the internet at http://lccatalog.lakecountyil.gov/ics-wpd/. The link to the catalog can be found on the law library’s home page: http://19thcircuitcourt.state.il.us/services/Pages/LawLibrary.aspx.
Having the catalog available through the internet now means that you can search the library’s catalog from the convenience of your office or from home. Whereas before, you had to visit the law library to search the catalog, you can now save time and search the catalog from your office or your home, which is especially valuable if your office is far from the courthouse and you don’t have time to take out from your busy schedule to stop by.
There are fields available to search by title, author, subject, or publisher. On the results screen you can bring up additional information about a particular title, such as the volume’s range of subjects. This can be especially helpful when trying to see which volume of a particular title you’d be interested in seeing. The catalog, however, does not provide access to law review articles or case decisions. For those resources, you can use WestlawNext on our public computers.
If you have questions about the library’s catalog, please don’t hesitate to ask any of the library staff.
